littlefeat

Stroudsburg’s Sherman Theater has booked the iconic Little Feat to perform on October 1. Little Feat, a band whose music transcends boundaries - a freewheeling fusion of California rock and Dixie-inflected funk-boogie – will present their eclectic sound for one night only. Sherman audiences can watch the show in VIP style, by reserving premium table seats in front of the stage for this performance.

Best known for radio friendly singles such as Dixie Chicken and Let It Roll, Little Feat mix strains of folk, blues, rockabilly, country and jazz, inventing a hybrid sound that is truly their own. With artists recently performing such as Bob Weir & Ratdog, David Bromberg, and Railroad Earth, the “jam” genre of music is becoming very well known at the Sherman. A very decerning and critical group of talent to work with, the Sherman’s quality acoustics and overall sound quality have allowed the organization to compile a line-up of renowned performers in the upcoming months. With Little Feat coming on October 1 followed by Railroad Earth Thanksgiving weekend, and David Bromberg in February of 2008 music lovers have a lot to look forward to.

Posted by Alan Waclawski at 8:12 pm in General | No Comments

The Sherman Theater in association with Hit & Run Productions brings the Dark Star Orchestra to Stroudsburg!

Using entire shows from the Grateful Dead’s 30 years of extensive touring as a launching pad, Dark Star Orchestra recreates the original song for song performance set list for an entirely new generation of Deadheads. Performing Stroudsburg for the first time, Dark Star Orchestra presents its critically acclaimed live show at the Sherman Theater Sunday, May 13.

Dark Star Orchestra performs Grateful Dead classics in the same way that a symphony interprets music of classical composers. The composer spirit is derived and channeled as the players capture the excitement and innovation of the original performances and compositions. Precision is king with DSO, which position the stage plot based on the year of Grateful Dead show to be performed, adapting phrasing, voice arrangements, and even arranges specific musical equipment for the various eras of Dead music performed. At the end of every performance, the band announces the date and venue where the original show just covered took place. Dark Star Orchestra dips into every incarnation of the Dead, so most fans can “see” shows that happened long before they were born. Read more…
